Reduce Your Budget But Not Your Network
July 17th, 2010
With budgets being cut across the board there are ways to reduce the cost of your new network and get the same kit but for less than you might think. Here we have identified ways to help you make the most of your network budget; get the equipment you need without compromising on quality, or service.
1. Use what you have first. If you have kit coming off your network that is less than 5 years old the chances are it still has value. You can use this kit as a trade in towards your new purchase, or sell it independently to any Cisco broker.
2. Use refurbished equipment. All our refurbished kit includes our industry leading 2 year warranty (90 days only from Cisco) and is supplied fully tested and configured to your requirements. Saving you on your starting cost by up to 70% and your time setting up or configuring software. 99% of hardware failures happen within the first 48 hours of being installed.
3. Reduce your maintenance costs – If you shop around you will find that local companies tend to offer a better discount than national companies. Also by choosing the right level of support, do you need same day replacement or will your network be ok till tomorrow?
4. No doubt you will have some kit on the shelf that’s not working and could be used. There are lots of companies that offer no fix no fee repairs. Getting broken kit repaired will give you extra spares if anything fails on your network.
5. WEEE disposals can be free if you look in the right places. There are lots of companies charging to dispose of your old electronic goods in an environmentally friendly way. On the other hand we may be able to dispose of your old equipment for FREE.
Also consider getting quotes from more than one supplier, to make sure you are paying the right amount.
I found Discount Cisco was very competitive.
